There’s no need to trade it in when you can transform it!
I have just returned from another inspiring weekend at Tatamagouche Free School. Free School is a weekend of workshops, classes, lectures and discussion groups hosted on a beautiful farm in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia. Topics vary greatly because the premise of Free School is that “everyone has something to teach, and everyone has something to learn.” Anyone who wants to teach something can host a workshop, so there are usually several to choose from in each time slot and picking one is always a tough decision.
It’s not only the classes at Free School that are inspiring. It attracts a lot of interesting people, and ideas.
This is one of the coolest things I saw this year – a little hatchback with a bed in it!
Cydney loves to camp with her toddler son in the summer, so she hacked her car into a camper by removing the passenger side seats and replacing it with a full-length bed, complete with wooden headboard and night table. Not only does it have a cozy “bedroom,” but the hatchback houses a tiny kitchen counter with a sink. If you look closely, you can see the large water bottle under the counter. The neck of the bottle goes through a hole in the counter and there is a pump on top that serves as the faucet.
While I was marvelling at the ingenuity that went into this adorable living space, we talked about Cydney’s next project – a solar shower. She plans to put a magnetic curtain around the open hatchback, so you can stand in the “kitchen” and take a shower. She is also planning kitchen cabinets under the counter, which would be a good idea to protect the storage area from the shower. It’s amazing how many possibilities there are to improve such a tiny space!
