So if picking one thing, sticking to it, and climbing that ladder ISN't the way to wildly fulfilling success, what IS?
Here's the golden nugget:
Instead of thinking about choosing your forever niche, just think about choosing your first niche.
There's more to it than that, of course, but making this major mindset shift frees you up from limitations. It eliminates the FOMO that choosing something means saying "no" to all the other fun things. It is also motivating to get started on THIS first niche, because someday soon you can still get to all the other things on your endless list of potential projects.
The Multipassionate Path depends on these new mindset and strategy shifts:
- find a theme (or two) that can accommodate several of your interests, project ideas, potential niches and bring them together
- build a brand around YOU, your personality and interests, instead of around a specific product or service
- pick your first niche and start testing it
- grow an engaged community of like-minded people
The dictionary definition for niche being "a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service", but let's think about it a bit differently.
You're already thinking about your first niche instead of your forever niche, but the purpose of a niche isn't just to have a "specialized segment" just for the heck of it. The reason you're "supposed" to be specialized is so that you can craft a very clear marketing message. That is the essential part of having a niche. So it doesn't have to mean limiting yourself to one product or service, but it DOES mean knowing exactly the problem you solve, and what you're offering as a solution, and speaking directly to the audience who is experiencing that problem. The key is building rapport with that audience.
As you grow an audience, and establish your first niche, you can then pivot to offering new products and services. You see, by bringing your whole self into your business, you'll be attracting like-minded people, and you can add different products or services over time, and even shift your niche. Many people in your existing audience will be interested in the same new thing as you because they resonate with you. You'll already have an audience for your second niche.
Choosing the theme is the most difficult part for most people. It can be hard to see the connections between various ideas for products, services, passions, hobbies.. . .and they don't necessarily ALL fit together.
It's about choosing what to combine and what to separate, and what role your interests play in your business.
Passion Pathfinding is my own method to map all of your interests, passions, talents, skills, hobbies....anything you love that could possibly be brought into your business. It's a creative way to discover new connections and see how different passions can take different roles in your business.
